I-405 Improvement Project

OCTA in cooperation with Caltrans is improving 16 miles of the San Diego Freeway (I-405) between State Route 73 (SR-73) and Interstate 605 (I-605). It also will construct the 405 Express Lanes from SR-73 to I-605. The new express lanes – incorporating the existing carpool lanes and connectors that opened in 2014 – will be two lanes in each direction.

Goals

• To provide Vietnamese outreach and support for the project
• To inform the Vietnamese community about the project plan and construction updates
• To provide local residents with Vietnamese electronic construction alerts and written public announcements about the project’s progress

Approach

• Set up information booths at community events to provide information about the program
• Translate project materials such as flyers, brochures, website announcements and other public press releases
• Produce informative content about the program, including video updates and business interviews
• Provide interpretation and live translation at neighborhood meetings and Q&A sessions
• Distribute program flyers on residents’ doorsteps
• Reach out to local businesses to inform them about construction activities that might affect them
• Appear on local public television programs, radio shows, and newspapers to inform the public about the program
